The National Games Secretrait is the most important sporting event in the country. It has its origin in the Indian Olympic Games movement in the first few decades of the last century. The movement culminated in the 9th Indian Olympic Games at Lahore in 1924. The event was known by this name until 1940 when it was held at Bombay as National Games. Kerala is going to hold the National Games for a second time in May 2010.
